Mate that is one awesome LS. Love the colour, is it an original colour? What sort of wheels are they?

Well, normally no, but that all depends on how low you want the car to be.

If you dont customise the rear arches, the car will need to have a minimum of 80mm between the tyre and the wheel arch for suspension travel........ which is pretty high and a bit unsightly. BUT, if the tyre DOES hit the arch when moving upwards, you will crack the wheel arch or even break some off.

The fibreglass arches are designed to sit flush against the panel on both the top (seen) edge and underneath the arch aswell (against the lip on the steel panel), which means that the tyres can not physically travel up into the wheel arch.

It IS possible to modify the arches though, by cutting off the underside of the arches and cutting away the steel panel aswell, which will allow a 13x5.5 or possibly a 13x6 wheel and tyre combo to come up under the arch during suspension travel. But a 13x7 wheel will be too wide to do this, and will basically hit the outer-most edge of the guard.

The modification to the rear arch and steel panel is a compicated one, because you have 2 steel panels to modify: the outer skin AND the curved inner guard (which is the arm rest for the back seat passengers). By cutting off the rear lip, the outer panel is no longer connected to the inner guard... you will need to weld a steel strip back in at the new height to join the 2 panels together again.

Which means, it is an "interior out" "fuel tank out"and possibly "respray the panels" kinda job.

Having said that, if you dont mind having the car a bit jacked up, you wont need to cut anything on the rear arch.

supercharged850 what size are the wheels on your car they look like 13by 7s.
i've got a set of 13by 7s already will have to just leave the back arches alone cause i aint buying new wheels.
whats the ride hight on your car between the arches and the wheels.

You cant really compare that picture to a mini with road legal tyres. Those wheels were 13x8's with 225/50/13 racing slicks (yep, theyre very big). And there was about an inch of clearance all round, but the car had very hard shocks and customised bump stops which gave it almost no suspension travel. Its a good looking photo, but it was not street driveable like that.

Here is a side on picture with those slicks fitted.. (poor quality, but thats all I have)

Image

I didnt change the ride height at all between those wheels and my 13x6's with road tyres. The 175/50/13 road tyres were so much smaller that I gained another inch of clearance just by their difference in overall diameter.

Hmm.... so many people asking me about this.... I think i might start a thread on how to do the sportspack arch fitment.... 8)

supercharged850 that would be a good idea start a thread on how to fit sportspack arches.

what kind of suspension did you use do you have cone or hydro suspension.

Front - stiffer shocks and customised (taller) bump stops.
Rear - stiffer shocks and then modified the rear trailing arms to fit hydrolastic bump stop brackets.

All with cone suspension on mine, but the same mods can work with hydro too.

Will all be listed in my write-up.
