Can anyone shed some light on what these numbers mean.

2/06
1864

Found on the firewall, behind the brake/clutch master cylinders.

Cheers

1864 is the car number - body number + 500ish...... it's low, and tied to the 2/06 is interesting -

a Mk 1 Cooper S should have M2 06 on the radiator shroud, though I'm sure there were times at the sausage factory where the numbers were stamped in funny places.... any other details of this car?

The radiator shroud has had a police number stamped on it many years ago. So that's no help.

There is no M before the 2 just 2/06. Then the production number.

probably not much else I can tell you then from just the numbers.... I'm guessing you're trying to work out if it's a genuine S?

Hi,
The digits are on my mark2 S Cooper S, behind the master cylinders. Four numbers and on top 2/06. The numbers on the radiator cowling are 504 more. Mark1S's have the production code on the radiator cowling M206.
Thanks

Sounds like a Mk2 S numbering . Bit hard to confirm though if its an "S" if it doesn't have the prefix and car number on radiator shroud , which all Mk2 S should have , eg : YG2S4 501 (first Mk2 S produced) . Early Mk2 S from May 1969 thru to December sometime , didn't have any ID or Compliance plate fitted , and the only way to identify them is by the numbers on firewall and radiator shroud . Firewall numbers are a 3 or 4 digit production code number with 2/06 stamped above them being Mk2 Cooper S code . The car number on radiator shroud being approx 500 more . Do you have the engine number and any other details ?? Wipers should be on passenger side if its Mk2 body . Also look under the rear seat on passenger side , if its genuine S , there should be a small hole with nylon plug ( fuel breather) ...........

Edit : 1864 + 500 ( give or take 10) = approx car number YG2S4 2364 , which would make it about an August 1970 Mk2 S (give or take a month or so)

I've got a weird mismatch mini. Plate with mathcing body number says 850. Rego says 1964 which matchs up but body has UK door latchs. And rear subframe has fuel pump mount. But has number stamped on radiator shroud. Did all minis have numbers there? It's ahrd to read. I'll figure it out and tell you guys and see. I don't think my body is S but is very mismatched, And Iw ant to know what some of it is. Oh and it's got wind up windows (easily put on tho...) and front seatbelts? Still sound Morris 850?

Anyways I'm just interested in researching my car.
