Unfortunatly rats have got into the interior so while very original it smells a bit. The pics I got were after I had taken my loot. Looks like it has sat under a tree but the body is straight and rust free but has mud wasp nests all over it. The freak in me wants to give it a bath and polish to see how different it would look.

Not there yet. After our first test drive the other day the engine was guttless (could not get over 25 mph) and then it stopped and won't start again. There is oil coming from the back out of a pipe (is this an overflow pipe?) but don't know much because I have been a ford man all my life. It is booked into a machinic (not the original idiot) to see what is going on in my "freshly" rebuilt engine.

The mini at the wreckers is as good as dead. Went out there today to get some more parts off it and it was sitting on top of a container with forklift damage all over it.

Hi Ian,
I've just read the whole 7 pages of this story! All I can say is good on you for pursuing the successful outcome. What a bloody lousy rat that reconditioner guy is. Glad it's all worked out for you anyways.

I live out of town in a rural area as many of you know. Our rubbish is not collected and we take it to a local tip which is ambitiously called a recycling centre.

Its unmanned and has various skips for the usual - glass, paper, plastic etc. Then there is a place to dump whitegoods, timber and vegetative matter and of course, car bodies and other steel.

Somebody dumped a good MK 1 Cortina car body as a rolling shell - it was a two door - still had seats, dash roof lining etc. I drove past it, saw it did an immediate U turn to a mates place who has a car trailer. Maybe away 15 minutes.

When I got back, all the glass had been smashed and somebody had attacked it with an axe.

Sigh !!!! why !!!!!

Here's an update. I got the mini back from a machanic today and the engine has not been rebuilt so I paid over $4000 for nothing. After I get the report it is back to the solicitor. My wife wanted to sell and cut our losses but there has been too much crap to just give up now. Words can't describe this.

If you get $4000 settlement or more for the drama I know where there is a saxon green 850 with original rubber mats and seats that look like they have never been sat in all original paper work real time warp for 5500. 18-22000 original miles
