I use a bit of lanotec or if not available a bit of vaseline to keep the nasties out. Gets messy if applied with to much gay abandon though

ohh i didnt realise you are meant to change the fuse before they blow. How is a fuse blowing shoddy maintenance? If anything is to blame it is my lack of experience. This is the first fuse to ever blow in any car I have ever owned and I am a self proclaimed below amateur mechanic

I was replying to the "*Grumbles* Bloody Lucas..."
I was not picking on you because you blew a fuse by running too much power through the standard fuse with all your accessories. That is not shoddy maintenance, that is shoddy workmanship. :wink:

Nothing wrong with Lucas electrics. No better or worse than anything else of that era.

Better you blow a fuse than melt the rest of the car :wink:

Its when you treat it with contempt that the smoke comes out. It was never designed to run 8000W sound systems or h4 headlights.
