ok so i've been ahvig a pretty good run with armageddon lately, he's been behaing himself. up until recently. he has started to lose coolant at an alarming rate (eg about half a litre a day) and is overheating as a result. i had the plugs out today, they had a decent amount of carbon foulin on them but there were no signs of water in there, i woulnd the engine on a bit to see if there was any in there but no, none.

yet to ahve a look at the water pump though, gotta get on that.

so this morning i cleaned up the plugs, topped up oil and coolant (took about 500-1000ml of oil, and filled coolant with motor running), and the temp is not evne reaching the N on the gauge?????

interesting :?

PS no mayo in oil filler cap

Maybe theres a hole in ur coolant system dear lizza dear lizza?

Go to a radiator joint and get a pressure test done, will take 30 secs to identify if there is a leak, should cost you free dollars.

I used to have this same problem..... I ended up flushing it everything I could think off. The problem wasn't anything remotely major, it was a hairline crack in the bottom rad hose barely visible until I shown a bright light down it and block off the other end.

best of luck fixing the problem

yeah gotta get a pressure test done, i think natrad are doing them free atm. im thinking it could be a cracked hose, the rad is less that a year old so i'm fairly sure its fine.

noticed hissing noise coming from rad cap, so changed it (but not same pressure, i think this new old one has a greater pressure)

so pressure test here we come! with a lot o luck its not the head or gasket i'v had enough of that. gotta get the block properly done

check cooling system (flush/look for air)

check mixture (a lean engine is a hot engine)

Did you replace the rad cap?

Mine started to lose an amazing amount of coolant (water  ) and get hot. I got all worried, thinking the worst.

Turned out the rad cap had corroded and it wasn't holding the spring down enough, so no pressure. $12 and it was fixed :D
