As much as I love Mini's I have to agree with a commemt posted on the magazine's site;

I know classic minis are now quite collectable, but that is an obscene amount of dosh - even with that racing history.

Just my opinion but it's much better if the car is put on show in a collection somewhere and money like that went on a new hospital wing or something.

My neighbour down the road has a Torana as well. In yellowish-green, pretty much the color of a standard highlighter color.

Before I met Minis, I didn't know these old cars can have such a good value. Everytime I walk down the road when I saw this neighbour's car, I used to say: "what a piece of crap" and was wondering why he needs a car-cover for it. And the Mazda 3 next door looks much better..

The other day my other neighbour told me they (Torana) worth a lot and I still feel unconvinced until I saw an article about it in "2007 Yearbook Australian Classic Car". The car in it looks exactly the same as my neighbour's car [Could be he's got featured??]. I can't remember what value they mention there in the book as I were just reading in the clinic but the article says it jumped up quite a lot within a short time.

Wow, I think I should do some investment like that after I have settled down in place.

It also comes down to a point that I question myself if selling my matic is a good idea, but the thing is that I can't really keep it as no space now.

People say Matics are rare/getting rare, do they have a potential? A mechnaic told me they are rare but people just won't pay high prices for it. How many of them are made and what would be a price prediction for it?

But this is the very point, it doesn't have a racing history. It is a replica, built around the rego number and papers of the original car.

I hate people who are into cars for money. They should be enjoyed.
