remember this a while back?
http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... t=mudflaps

well i went up to brissy yesturday to find mokesta and get some flares and also to find theminiman and look at a 202 head.

i got horribly lost as i do and was 3 map pages away from mokestas house, i pulled into a supermaket carpark and was on the phone to him saying i was lost, then once i recied alot of directions i knew i wouldn't remebr or understand. a person who had been waiting patiently for me to finish said.
"i use to own a mini, i've got a lot of parts left over if you want them" i said "what now?" him "ummm..." me "cause i'm only here for one day, i've come up from mullumbimby" him "yeah ok, just follow me."

went to house which was only a few streets away, he opened the garage and there is a shelf about 4 meters long with parts all on it and lots of stuff. he said pick through get what you want and i'll say how much. so i was like allright.

i got a ton of parts for $50 and for an extra $25 i got a bored out cooper s head. there was a clubman right hand door in perfect condition but i didn't have the room or the space for it.

with the car fully loaded up i went on to fink mokesta but i got lost again and went up and down the same street about 5 times and finnally saw the right turn off but it was to late i was past it. then i got a call from mokesta, he said, "your close enough i'll come find you" winthin about 5 mins he showed up and we ha a good chat and i told him what happened while we had about 30mins in a 10 min parking zone.

on the way home i went to show my mate with the yellow moke but i got stuck and had to pull everything out.

it was a very fun and long day, i didn't have enough time to find theminiman because i knew i would just get lost again.

but i think i found what i was going to make,

i bored out 202 head which needs a bit of a clean up and sleeving.

i'm going to be selling most of the parts to fund my trip to europe at the end of the year with the rest of the class.

when i find the card the guy gave i'll put his number up for you to call, he still has a complete block the door and a shelf full of bits and stuff.
but yes i took most of the good stuff.

Dont be too quick to sell those disc brake bits - they look like they are 7" but i am unsure.

Ask him if he has the other disc hub upright - once you have that you have the basis for the sort of brakes that others would kill for. Those brakes alone are worth $600 as they are provided you have all the bits.

Yes Andrew, you sure can get lost pretty well.

Well, I just bought all of the rest of the stuff the guy had (pics soon). Not much of any value left but I got a short motor (size TBA) and gear box.

The motor has #2 cylinder badly scored by a loose gudgen pin and the gearbox is in bits. Both have a bit of water damage. [wonders aloud if this will be the start of a MadMatt BMW twinky]

I also found the other disc swivel hub so Andbat has a full set to sell.

So, I went to give away a set of old flares and ended up with 3 boxes of parts... Interesting scenario.

M

EDIT: engine size unconfirmed

So, here is the pile of stuff I got from the same bloke 94 boxes plus tyres):
Image

He's got nothing left except a clubby driver's door.

This is the engine. Bores measure roughly 71.2 mm, so I guess it is an oversize 1275??
Image

Crank. two big end have surface corrosion. 12G1505, what's that???
Image

Bore scored quite badly. is it fixable?
Image

Rods, what are these from?
Image

GR has seen this crank at some stage...
Image

Box has this number. What's it from? Gear cluster is 22G927.

okay, so the guys number is 07 3378 5336 call between business hours only.

it would seem all he has left is a perfect mini clubman door, painted white, no insides, no rust though either.

Bore size looks like 20 thou oversize (plenty of meat left if all pots the same)
Conrods factory 1275 . Gearbox remote, mini-k ratios
Good result :P
