hey

looks like its on the way out....
when i put the clutch in it makes a whining noise.
how easy/hard is this to fix? and what is involved in doing it?
i'd rather try and do it myself so i learn a bit more about her

A new bearing (50 odd bucks, can be had from bearing suppliers or mini shops) and about 3 hours of your time for the first attempt, an 1.5 hours for your second, most of that just scratching your head.

Once the old bearing is out, you can press on a new one yourself, or take it to a mechanic or similar to have them remove and press on the new bearing.

A very easy job to do, most of the time is spent getting bolts on and off.

Be warned, there are cheap throw-out bearings out there...

I try to use the original type ---> 3W5/8 & are normally between $50-$70 depending where & who you get it from

not many of these floating around tho.

But most people will try to sell you the ---> 7W5/8 normally cost about $20-$30 again depending on where/who you get it from

Please try to make sure you have the clutch adjusted correctly after you have changed the bearing over, if it`s over adjusted, then your lovely new throw-out bearing will last barely 3 months (if you`re lucky)

when adjusted correctly then there is no reason why the bearing shouldn`t last another 20-+(ish) years
