I have just been to RECARB in Hornsby. They are closing their doors on Thursday. Business has been sold to a Victorian company.

They are distributers of Weber kits, parts, and carbs. They had a brand spanker Weber on the bench there when I went in.

If you want something from there, get in QUICK!

hey mate, I was speaking with graham the other day, and he just says that you need
something bigger than your current setup.

He said a 1.75 (he is an SU man) but im sure a webber would work equally as well
but remember that you will have to most probably get another manifold (however u may need to do this as well for a 1.75)

just go bigger!

I run the 45 side draft webber, It's the POO I tell ya. :D

Also depends on HOW Original you want to keep the car too. You should just be able to buy a webber from any auto shop, it's not a specific webber to suit a mini, they are all the same basically, you jet to suit the car.
BUT, Just find some one good to set up, balance and jet the thing specifically for your car. A good dyno shop should be able to do it, but, as with everything to do with mini's its best to find someone that works on em alll the time. they'll know all the tricks. I only run the short inlet manifold, but, the longer the inlet manifold the better the airflow, the more hp's you get. I once borrowed a 7 inch inlet, had to move the speedo out of the way, the webber basically sat inside the cabin with me, approx where the speedo used to be. Was running open ram tubes,(hadn't put the socks back on as well, it looked cool) sounded amazing under acceration, BUT, then I backed off for a corner, the thing backfired , and flames shot past my shoulder into the back seat. I took long manifold straight back out and put back my shorty. It was never going to actually be run in the car, as.... well, I LIKE the speedo there, But it was fun trying it out.

Webers are great AS LONG as they are set up & jetted to suit your engine, i highly recommended Greig at Mini Classic at Ermington, he recently rejetted my weber & tuned my engine, it's never run as well. Webers with mini manifolds can be bought on ebay in the range of $300-$500.

Yes, so are Dellortos and they're cheaper to find...
Work just as well, I left a heap of Weber DCOEs in my wake at dyno day. 8)

Yeah, I also had Twin 45 Solex's (japanese copy of the webber) on my old 1977 Twincam Celica, man what a noise that made. Still I prefer the internals of the webber, especially the venturies, in the webber they are in a collar you slip into the troat of the carby and align with a locating screw, in the solex, the venturie was like a "wing" and it was a pain in the arse to locate it in the troat and do up the locating screw, also, I found with all the vibrating the alloy would wear down and the venturies would actually fall out. :(
