Hi i was wondering how you can tell genuine coopers wheel , what is the differance.

Any pics would be good thanks.

That's pretty easy , this is what a cooper s wheel looks like ,

These are photo's I have from a previous post but they show the holes around the rim center which is what you're looking for .

They were available in two widths , 3 1/2" (very rare and on early UK mini's only I think) and 4 1/2" (at least I think 4 1/2" width). there were also two different offsets of the 4 1/2" width ones

Actually there was only one offset for these, for a Cooper S. :wink:
The so-called `reverse S' wheels were made aftermarket by Dunlop to fit common Minis with flat brake drums, not the Cooper S.
These 2 wheels are identified by different `LP***' numbers on the wheel centre, can't remember what they are offhand.

I heard the wide offset ones were 'bathurst' spec

the numbers are LP883 for standard issue, LP918 for wide offset

Never run at Bathurst, they used stock S wheels in 66. No flares either then. :wink:

Hmmm. Now I have seen pics of Cooper S with flares and stock wheels in a 67 magazine.
I also have seen pics of Cooper S with flares at Bathurst in 68.
So what width wheels were used with flares on Series Production race cars?

My 68 had the factory flares but the stock wheels. (It was a Series Production car) They may have run wider wheels but I don't know for sure.
I do know that the Australian Cooper S had flares well before the Mk2 came out. :wink:

Back then (late 60s) I never saw a Cooper S with the reversed offset ones.
I was then involved making wide wheels for Parramatta Speed Shop. I did quite a few sets of S ones out to 5.5" or 6", never saw a reversed S set in those days.
I think they came out here later, were then popular on non-S's. :wink:
