Hi Guys;

Okay, it's a newbie begging for info here... :wink:

I'm looking at picking up leyland clubman as my next project :D and at it being a daily driver at the end of it all; the one I've got my eye on is not currently registered, and the guy who's selling it off bought it for a parts vehicle - and he bought it unregistered.

I've heard there can be all sorts of issues licensing imports; so I'm just trying to minimize my risk of buying something I can't register by asking those in the know... ie you guys :)

The info I currently have is Engine # 99H905AJH0047, body # V028410P - can we confirm that it's australian built by these?

Now it has already had a flip front conversion, so I'll probably need an engineers certiicate for that right?

Is there anything else I need to look out for?

Can I ask any more questions in a first post?

If its a clubman - look at the front door and if it has external door hinges and a triangular vent window at the front then it's Aussie built. If the hinges are inside the door frame (like just about every other car on the road) and there is a single piece of glass then it was built in either the UK or Sth Africa

I'm not sure on the numbers (can't find them exactly)but they are similar to the Australian production ones I have and the engine number's following on in series . I think from memory they had Leyland Australia on the compliance plate but not sure , been a while since I've looked at a clubbie . As mentioned by vicmini , if it's got external door hinges and a clubman front then it's Australian , the UK clubmans had internal; door hinges . As for the flip front , not sure about WA's rules but in NSW that would need an engineers certificate .

The body number looks like a Police number. I can't tell anything from that. :cry:

The original numbers would have been on the bits that were cut off to make the flip front. So to get it registered they have gone through the process of getting new numbers issued to the car.
