That's the model number basically , YMA2S1 is morris 850 , YMA2S2 is Morris Mini Deluxe etc .

The prefix tells you what the car is, in this case it is a Mini 850. The code works like this...
Y = Australian Production
M = Morris (A = Austin, G = MG, K = Morris Cooper, etc.)
A = 800cc to 999cc (G= 1000cc to 1399cc, etc)
2S = 2 door saloon. (S= 4 door saloon, W = Wagon, etc.)
1 = Series of model. (used to record a major change)
