Good Moaning.....I'll say this only once...

A few good books :
History mainly but some ideas on mods : "The Works Minis" by Peter Browning.

Again History but about the Mods: "Anatomy of the Works Minis" by Brian Moylan.

The classic : "How to Modify your Mini" by David Vizard.

I did a few road navigation rallies in the past and currently getting parts to build a works "like not replica" to do so again. Tried some dirt rallying with a Datto 1600 with a view to building a mini - but decided I was allergic to trees... so now a decade later dabbling with circuit racing.

Did join a crew from the ACT Mini Club who did the Kidney Foundation Around Australia in 96... converted the Mini to a short wheel base version in a creek outside Port Germain SA... sheared off the sump guard amongst other parts - pulled the engine and gearbox (now with half front missing) in a sheep paddock with a tree for engine hoist....(carrying spare in support F100) and snapped the crank at Bowen (Qld) .. trailered to Brisbane overnight and dropped in a second hand 998 and drove on basically 2 cylinders back to Canberra! (Check the fuel and filler up with oil!) Great fun to drive - especially on the dirt..... though "ball bearings" in WA interesting... Nav gave me a call and then "turn right is in 1km not now" ... to look up and see we were sideways not turning !

Somewhere between Kalgoorlie and Perth ....

Alright, alright!! - I'll give him the goddam ISBN. enough already. :D

when it says debug error, it usually still posts for me Mike?
Anyhow -

Brian Moylan is the guy you refer to. The first one has a rather long title:
ISBN 1-874105-97-9 Works Rally Mechanic - Tales of the BMC/BL Works Rally Dept 1955-1979,

ISBN 1-903706-03-3 Anatomy of the Works Minis - Rally, racing & Rallycross Cars

The third one is by Peter Browning:
ISBN 0-85429-967-X The Illustrated history of the Works Minis in International rallies and races.

There's a few more I've got my eye on as well, but they're not cheap - more about the Works team in general than solely Mini's, but the mini played such a large part in their history it gets the lion's share.

It has already saved your post. Hit `back' button to get to the last dude's post, then <F5> to refresh.
You'll see your post then. 8)
