hey guys
went to sprints this arvo and got myself a high flow waterpump AND a fan belt all for $41. 25% off people.
dont u just love after christmas sales

anyway, the dilema i have is that he showed me my old fan belt and the new one i was supplied and the new one is about 20mm longer.
will this do?
what are the general rules with fanbelt lengths? is it strict?
any ideas?

mate should be ok provided you have enough room on the alternator/generator bracket to adjust for it and provide enough tension. Good luck. G.

Usual length with alternator is 825, with generator 815, Mk1 S (with generator) 850.
These are the numbers on the belts.

S had a bigger generator pulley, so it didn't shred itself to bits when you gave it a big rev.
Was a good idea back then. My bro's Imp used to chew generators up & spit 'em out too (he used to rev it a bit..) so we stuck an Alfa alternator in it. 8)
