Any followers of the Moke forum - please dont yawn, but hete is some info on my project to date:

Image
Some of my parts

Image
Aisin AMR 300 Super charger

Image
Metro turbo carby - I had it re kitted

Image
Turbo carb plenum.

Image
Blow off valve

Image
Blower Mounted

Image
Intercooler Mounted

Image
Carb in place - I cad to cut in to the fire wall to get it in - bugger.

I have had the set up running - no pipes connected. It screams.

I run the beast up on a dyno before I started the fit up - a massive 30.2 HP - I will be interested to see what I get once connected up.

I am NOT expecting a massive improvement - The motor is stock, with extractors and RC40 exhaust.

They're from a 660cc twin cam multivalve Subaru engine , they come out of one of the Kei (sp?) class cars in Japan , a Subaru Rex (not relation to a WRX "rex" ...) .

Yep, also found on the (import) Subaru Vivio. Theres also a slightly (very slightly) bigger AMR500 available (from the Nissan March, I think).
They (the AMR300) work quite well on 998's (I used to have one on my Moke before going to the Ben Aford/SC12 setup).
Never did have mine dyno'd with the AMR300 but it gave a driving 'feel' roughly the same as a standard 1275 (that vague enough for ya? :D )
I used a tiny intercooler (stock Silvia one, I think) - with an intercooler as big as the one you have, it might be a bit laggy (big volume to fill).
Still, for the dollars spent (much cheaper than SC12 setup), it's an excellent mod.

so far:

$220 for blower
$119 for intercooler
$29 fuel press regulator
$50 plenum
$6.50 for belt
$35 for blow off valve
$100 for carby
$200 to get carby re built
$70 for boost gauge.
8 hrs so far to fit up.

plumbing still to go - approx $150?

All up under a grand.

I have done it more as a project to see if I could work out how to set up something like this.

Is the blow off valve being used as a 'back fire release valve'?

As with the SC setup it won't vrrroooom pssst.

However, on 92's SC12 kit there is a spring loaded valve which releases the burnt fuel air mix out in the event of a back fire (which do occur, I know!)

It looks like a good setup though! Should be fun!

True, but after you take your foot off in a turbo car, the turbo, won't slow down imediately, it'll spin and boost for a bit longer. This fills up the plenum and becasue the engine can't take the air it slows down the turbine. So when you put for foot back down, eg. in a gearchange, there will be lag as the turbo needs to get spinning again.

On a supercharged car the charger will stop boosting the moment you take your foot off the accelerator.

My vote is for vrrooommm.....vrrooom, no psssst.

But i might be slightly wrong, or have the complete wrong idea, either way, feel free to correct me. :)

The supercharger is still turning when you change gears. . .so it's still producing boost.
When the throttle is shut, the pressure is higher on the plenum side of the carb than on the engine side, so the BOV opens and. . .psst!
I got a lot of odd looks due to the very japanese-sounding BOV noises coming from my Moke when it had a blow though supercharger install on it. . .
