Well it's been slow and frustrating progress. I've been lacking the folding
stuff. So I've decided to clean down the motor, put on a new timing belt and
give it a coat of paint. I know should fit it first to save scratching it but I'm just gunna have to be careful.

Mine looked like, i spent some time repairing it and then painted the whole thing. If you can buy a good one it will be easier. Try Austarlet.

I like the look of the ridge down the center of the mini bonnets, don't get me wrong the starlet scoop looks awesome but it's just missing that bit of style if you can call it that.

He's at the stage of doing/trying anything he can to get his misses to give him permission to buy my car instead of cutting his current one up :D

Question for those who have done a Starlet GT conversion in a Clubman : I know there is more room to work with than a round nose but would making a flip front (yes I know ther's a fair bit of work involved) provide any advantage to engine access over a standard clubman front?

Also - Of the few conversions I've seen, there is a need to cut a nice large in the drivers inner guard for the alternator. Is this required in a clubman?

I've been watching archangels build with earnest and will follow this one closely as well :D . I am due to start my conversion in about 12-18 months once our new house is built and I get my workshop up and running.

Depends which way you make it flip. Forward no, rearward yes.

Like JC says, its how you flip it.

You will have heaps mor room if it hinges back an up from the rear.

Not so much room if it hinges from the front.

Fair enough. Based on the pics I've seen, there's a sufficient (but not substantial) amount of room to work in the Clubman engine bay.
