very nice wheels :D

Matt, would it be possible for you to post up some pics of your buggy with or without the wheels.

I have only seen one picture of it and would like to see some more.

Thanks

Matt

My Mate Matty Archer sitting in it having a beer in the middle of us building it :-)

Image

Steering & drive line stuff nearly finished & ready to go for it`s maiden voyage :-)

Image

We got it wired up & running, did some wicked burnouts on my driveway & then took it to the last mini muster at carina last june on the back of my truck, it certainly is a very fast little weapon indeed & soon to be turbo charged :-)

wheels are nice but, wont they be a little small for that sort of power, there was alot said about wheels being to heavy for the car to move but i think here will be the opposite effect, especially in a hillclimb where tyre heat is non existant. good luck though

At Collingrove Hillclimb here in SA there is a short burnout area before the start to let you get the tyres warm. As to whether or not that's satisfactory or if they are still warm by the time you go, I'm not sure.

most hillclimb tracks let you do a burnout but its not nearly enough for proper tyre heat. its more the rim size that would be the issue in my opinion

Welllllll,,,, the way i see it is that the smaller the wheel diam, the faster it turns,,,, as in the more rotations for a given track distance as compared to a larger diam wheel/tyre combo, therefor it will heat up way quicker than a bigger diam tyre would.., add that to the rather wide foot print of 8 inches, then we also have quite a large amount of grip for such a light weight car (200kgs) ,,, now lets add all that up to a situation where we do a burn-out just before our start, then quickly swap front to rear wheel/tyre combos & do another burnout, then get on it up the hill with at least some warmth in all 4 wheels,,, & the wheels doing both the driving & the steering (being FWD yes) are the hotter of the lot, then we should have a slight advantage over the rear engine cars in "Some" respects where they just can`t seem to get enough heat into their front/steer tyres & allways seem to understeer into the tight yet fast corners, but if they go just a tad faster then they understeer & shoot off the track & it is allways been a hillclimbers dream to be able to get both the grunt actually to the track early enough through a corner to be able to shoot out of it quick (very hard to achieve that package & takes people a very long time to sort a decent "compromise" handling package)),,,,, & Then--> we also "should "have a slight advantage over the rear engined, rear wheel drive cars simply because there is "usually" more corners than straights on "Most" hillclimb tracks,,,, so ,,, the way i see it is that, all over, whole-ous-bowlus, as an entire package, the smaller diam, wider, & still way more lightweight rim/tyre package, the better (& lower to the ground too)

Now,,, all that said,,, at this point it`d be pretty cool to enter into this equation the fact that Yammy R1 donks are not that well known for their low down grunt & most of their power is in the higher revs, then we can all simply sumise that the less recipricating mass that this poor "Little", high reving donk has to turn, the better,,, hence the choice for an extreaml;y lightwheight wheel rim/tyre package, not to mention the absolute barest of necessities with respect to the rest of the build.

Make no mistake ladies & gentlemen, this "thing" (especially when it`s turbo-ed) will be one motha of a thing on a hillclimb circuit & these Carbon wheels are a perfect choice for lots & lots of reasons.

& i`ll post the pics of the real things when i actually have them in my hands, they`re not here yet, but as soon as they are, i`ll stick them on my buggy & maybe my Monaco & take some pics, i promise. :-)

Hey Matt

Is the buggy home built by you? or can you buy the frame etc from somewhere? More details would be cool, maybe another thread altogether, it looks very interesting....

Regards
Smarty

Im very interested too.

The suspension towers look like they are chopped out from a mini - so my guess this is one matt's creations.

Cheers
Matt

Smarty & Matt, yes, it`s my own design & build,

I built this one years ago & it`s a front Wheel Drive alloy V8 powered thing we used to call "Whiplash" (for obvious reasons)

Image

1018cc, yes i`m hangin for them to arrive too & i definately will post pics of them

Thats a very bling steering wheel you've got on there. You're going to need dark glasses when you drive it 8)

Is it real gold?
