Twin leading-shoe brakes were standard from the release of the Mini de Luxe in March 1965. Not sure of the Mini Minor, but I think they still had single leading shoes. The Mk2 Mini - Mini 1100 - I'm sure all had twin LS brakes.

Mini Minor had wind-up windows like the De Luxe, but only 848cc engine, push-button starter and magic wand gearstick.

Mini De Luxe had 998cc engine, remote gearshift, key-start, and better quality trim. Mini Cooper (998cc) was discontinued prior to release of De Luxe.

When the Mk2 Mini was released in 1969 the range was Mini 1100 (base model, poverty pack) Mini K, Mini Matic Mk2 (still had 998cc) and Cooper S.

Clubman range in 1971 included Mini 1100 (now in Clubman shell, but I'd like to see one of these early cars as I believe the very first still had central speedo, though later cars had the Clubman dash) Mini Clubman (1100cc) and Mini Clubman GT.

Morris 1100, if you have any brochures or info on these Mini 1100 models, can I get a copy, please?

I've located a base model Mini 1100 (round nose) for an upcoming feature, but would dearly like to find an early base model Mini 1100 (square nose).

Cheers,
Watto.

I forgot to ad, with rtelation to Mini Minor and Mini De Luxe, there was also Mini Matic, which had the 998cc and automatic transmission, and was essentially a Mini De Luxe automatic.

Cheers,
Watto.

I thought my Deluxe was the entry level car........ its like someone was let loose with the vinyl machine - if its not duco painted metal inside then its covereing in vinyl trim...

Just like the vast majority of cars produced in that era....they were different times, before the slick marketeers got in to say "but how can you drive this car without the 21 inch chrome mag wheel option pack!!"

Most makes usually had a base model then there was a slightly uprated "luxury" version (with things like bucket seats, extra chrome and metallic paint!!) which most people would giggle at these days and then maybe a sporty model...that was it!!

If you had wood panelling somewhere on the dash then that was a luxury car

Thanks Brett.

I'm going up to Brisbane in August for the Mini Muster - does everyone know it doesn't clash with Hay this year? :D - so I'll give Geoff a ring.

Cheers,
Watto.

You're joking????

Good on the new committee of the Qld Mini Club. Hope to see some banana benders in Hay and you'll certainly see a lot more NSW Mini folk making the trek to the Mini Muster this year.

I know of a clubman van with magic wand and center speedo.
Couldn't be too many left of those around.
