You can always try a bit of toothpaste as well , it's a very mild abrasive , just go gently at first to make sure it's not too harsh for the stainless trim , it works well on other metals but I'm not sure about thin trim ...

I tried toothpaste once on my old Contessas and all it did was make them smell like mint. It wasn't as abrasive as Autosol, at least on alloy. Perhaps you could try some toothpaste with whitening, that is meant to be more abrasive isn't it?

Righto,

I tried Brite-Shine, AutoSol, Meguiars All Metal Polysh & Toothpaste. After none of those worked (although it did smell much more minty after the toothpaste) I went out and I bought some cutting compound and some polishing compound.

I gave them a quick try and boy....what a difference!

It was pretty fast too. I used the cutting compound to get the scratches out (which left the surface a bit :? ) and then I used the polishing compund stuff and it brought it back up like brand new!

It is now super shiney. I have only tried a patch so far and it has turned out good. I just need to buy more polishing pads for my rotary tool.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I just need to spend some more time on it.

Starting to think about it - but I know it is there and it annoys the s^&t out of me. So I would be polishing it out even if I wasn't going to the muster.

You never know Matt - I might not win anything - I do it just because I love cleaning my car and making it look nice. I don't care if I don't win. *That reminds me, I need to get that tear in the seat fixed*
