I agree , I'll send $5 to go towards covering your costs , PM me your address .

I was reading this thinking it was a low act and remembered there's most likely still a 10" moke wheel sitting in an Adelaide members house that I bought on someones behalf that probably hasn't picked it up yet

EDIT , morris1100's flatten it post wasn't there when I replied , I agree with chipping in money but not destroying it , pass it on to someone who can use it , you tube the paint stripper going on perhaps ?

Nahh , if he can use it it's his , if not give to someone else or dump and I'll pay dump fees etc .

It's a shame really , the other party wanted the rim for the original 10" winter tread for a 10" moke resto and is a well known person in the mini and moke scene .

judging his username being "1990" my guess is he's only 18 and can't afford it! giving us young mini owners a bad name!especially the fact that he wrote it off in the first place!

how much did it cost you mate??

Bit of a waste flattening it. It doesn't look like it has any/much rust. The area around the hinges look really nice. I reckon strip it, paint in primer and sell it to someone else who will use it. That way you can still video the sandblasting or chemical treatment and put it on youtube and still make money. I'm sure there's plenty of people doing up a mini with a rusty bootlid who need a replacement.

All mini Owners,

As I can see there is much debate over my 'actions' in failing to pick up a bootlid. Firstly, I must publicly state a thank you to Mike for going out of his way to pick up the bootlid, and taking his time to do so for a fellow mini owner. That act of kindness coincides with the dedication ive seen from mini owners since i became attached to them.

Secondly, In my defence I have a few excuses, these may sound lame. And I understand the majority of you will probably still not believe me but the reason it has taken so long to pick up the boot is a) Im car-less b) Live with one parent who works and is therfore unable to make the 3 hour round trip to pick it up c) I study 5 days a week.

Again these excuses are not sufficient enough in providing an answer but, in my understanding the money is what you are all concerned about, I must make one fact clear. I have sent the money for the bootlid+plenty of beer to mike, and unless Australia Post has not done their job, should have been delievered to mike. Some of you talk of instead destroying the bootlid and posting a video on Youtube. May i just say that this would be an extremely childish act in destroying a perfectly good mini part, as im sure true mini enthusiasts would understand.

I have now gotten to the stage where, (despite paying for the bootlid) would like to instead of allowing the bootlid to be burned or destroyed, be given to a mini member who would use it. It must also be understood that I have given a date to mike where I would have definatly picked it up and I have tried to pick the bootlid up at another stage, however the times mike was home were not viable for me.

Many of you will still be unpleased with this apology, but I do hope this clears a few facts out. In my belief, despite my wrongs this has blown out to larger proportions than should have been.

Sorry Mike and others,
Dennis

if its hard for you to pick it up im sure mike wouldnt mind delivering it to you or handing it to another member to drop it off for a small fee. i can understand mike would feel annoyed at the fact the bootlid has been sitting there for a while but that is the reason for it id have to say thats fair enough, i wouldnt expect someone to catch a bus to mikes place pick up the boot lid then bus it home.

one advice though dont deliver money or beer through post cause it will never make it. should of money ordered otherwise waited till you got the bootlid to pay.

where in sydney are you? if you are close to another member im sure they will be more then happy to deliver the bootlid for a fee.
