I thought the matic's had a similar looking hump design in the floor where the shifter goes.

Not sure but maybe the following will help others

- Pre 69 (wipers)
- Clubman Seats and Pot Joint axle
- Porcelain Green?

My guess* is a Mini Minor, 66-68

The `matic uses the 850 magic wand gearshift hole and grommet, the shift cable goes through it.
They also have captive nuts on the tunnel to mount the shifter box.

Yep.

Hence the freshly patched up 850 magic wand hole and cut out hole in the floor where the shifter goes through.

Im just thinking it may have been a matic converted to manual?

Body number should be up behind the master cylinders and not on the radiator shroud like later ones , check the shroud as well as it might have a car type number there as well . So there's no ID plate on it anywhere ?

It seems to have the early wiper scuttle, Matics came out in January 68 only months before the scuttle changed to the later type, so most Matics had that.
My bet is it's an 850 too.
