G'day

Does anyone have the paint code for the light green engine paint? Need it for a Cooper S Engine that i am restoring.

I found this by using the search feature with "cooper engine colour" - all words and by posts

edit - when I built my original engine (the current one is slightly modified :lol:) I just bought the metallic green paint from Mini King.

I went through this adventure only a week ago...

At the local paint expert (Alan Mance Footscray) the code came up as light blue...not what I was wanting. Still they wanted 40 dollars to mix a litre, I got a can of the correct code from John Schmidt for 35 instead.

I am also going throuh this issue. Its Metalic green metalic on a silver base. I have a sample the panel beater is trying to match it. Do yo think John will post it?

I have some left overs in a can mixed from the proper formula about 20+ years ago. The label says "metallic green met". The original formula is written on the back.

However, when I went back to get some more, I was told that the tints originally used were no longer made so the formula was useless.

It was not a problem though. They just dipped a piece of metal into the leftovers and then mixed a new tin full to match.

Any decent panel beater/painter should be able to mix some if you have a sample. If you don't mix up the paint properly before application then you will get a quite different appearance (don't ask me how I know). I would suggest that BMC were not too fastidious in this regard.

could you please post the original formula ? The panel beaters out this way are old school and can prob work it out! or do you know the new formula?
