G'day all,

Seeking your opinions on realistic price range of authentic Cooper S Mk1 vs Mk2 in similar condition. I am having a look around and as an ex Mk2 owner (many moons ago), would prefer one of these, but realise the Mk1s are more affordable (or less expensive!).

Any info appreciated!

I don't think there is any real price difference.... just not as many MK2's for sale. Don't settle for a MK1 if it's not what you want, a MK2 will show up

Only about 1/3 of the total Ss made here were Mk2s, one reason why.

thought I would never say it but around late $20,000 to early $30,000 seems to be the money

Oh I know 2 people who have about $30,000 to buy a genuine S and can;t find one that has all the right bits, such as matching numbers, interiors etc...

I'll take $30K for mine... it has all the right bits, and is unrestored ;)

I was thinking that if a couple of us Cooper S owners got together we could artificially inflate the prices of the Cooper S to whatever price we wanted.
All we need is three cars and three owners.
List car #1 on ebay and owners 2 and 3 bid furiously till it reaches the agreed price and let owner number 2 win.
List car #2 on ebay and owners 1 and 3 bid .....
List car #3 ....

So the end result is three Cooper S's selling for a huge price in front of a big marketplace. (the downside is the ebay fees)
The next time someone lists a car everyone will be expecting it to go for similar money.

That would make us OPEC. And when prices of S parts went down we could pay some Nigerians to burn a mini shop down inflating tensions in the region and pushing prices back up.

Just let me get one before anyone gets on Ebay with those cars!!!!!!!!

With the money getting tighter, could make prices go either way I reckon......
