I came across this website after stuffing up 2 clips with my home made installer and thought it may be of use to someone. I have not made one yet but I will do tomorrow. Its very descriptive and has pics.

if they could have it delivered to my door before about 8am tomorrow I would hop on line and grab one.

...I've simply never had a problem putting them on....

Place one side of the e-clip on the slave cylinder and use a blade screwdriver in the gap to walk it into the groove. Same for removal.

Yeah I did the same yesterday. That tool sure does look nice though.


Anyone know how to make a home made front cone compressor? I was almost going to call is a cone suppressor...

yeah I did this when I put the old ones on. BUt I didnt like it because it seemed to have stretched them and they wernt that tight. I got new ones to make sure it would be safe..

They're not actually made of anything special, just cheap pressed metal seems to be the limit of it. They're a very cheap imitation of a circlip This means you can bend them back if you overstretch it a little and have another go. E-clips in large or in very small sizes (as used often on RC cars) are designed so they may be put on and off without specialist tools. That's their advantage over circlips. Also for the maker of the slave cylinders, they are also cheaper to source (surprise surprise)

There's much more important tools to pick up for working on your mini imho if you have the dollars spare. Especially for the number of times you need to use it.
