Gotcha, might go this way first rather than doing the whole lot in one go. Which VELO seat did you use? GP-90? You reckon two would fit side by side in a mini? Wouldn't mind supporting an Aussie company.

I have seen cars roll and crash at simple track days. Older cars with high aspect ration tyres are especially vulnerable when they go sideways into gravel. One Alfa came to a day at Morgan park and rolled in the gravel at relatively low speed. The driver was very lucky to walk away. The whole roof caved in except the bit above his head. The Alfa had about the same size A and B pillars as a mini. They just buckled and down came the roof.

So, even if you are just doing a handfull of minor events, I think some form of roll over protection is a good idea.

Another guy whacked his '86 Integra into the wall at 45 degrees on the front passenger side corner. He just had road seats and lap-sash belts. He smashed his helmet into the passenger side A pillar (windsreen to front door)!!!, tore the centre console out with his hip and was out cold for 5 minutes.

The B pillars, A pillars, door frames, upper seat belt mounts and steering wheel are all there to be hit by your head in an accident, road or track and are just as hard as any roll bar tubing.

A well mounted high, fixed back (or current ADR) seat combined with a rear half cage with lap-sash belts for road and 4-point harness for track are a good idea in my opinion. I know this is contrary to other's but that's what makes the world go around.

does anyone have a template for a good half cage?

i too would be interested in having one to mount a harness to. also to re-stiffen my car as i discovered last weekend the po had cut two mammoth holes in the rear firewall for twin 12 inch subs! i mean really, does a min need that much ice?

anyways would love a template for or an actual half cage in adelaide if anyone has one.
