Ill be keeping a close eye on it. They reckon it will keep the moisture out, but only time will tell. Im might invest in some silica gel satchels and put them in there just to be sure. It gets pretty moist up here over the wet season.. Oh and Spaceboy, no the fans are just like PC cooling fans, so can barely hear them.

those silica gel pkts would expire quickly wouldnt they??

how bout using a commercial miosture trap like closet Camel you can get them at Woolies they absorb moisture in houses which have aproblem with damp so it should work well in the Coon

Ps

Cant wait to see what sort of butterfly it produces

Nice one Hanra, go the silica gel (or Camel) for sure. Gotta be better for the paintwork than that cover you used to have it under..

turns bright pink when wet, and bright blue when dry..

is also re-generative.. ie whack it in the oven and dry it out when required...

beware we used to use this stuff at work, we had special ovens to dry it out, it doesn't happen any more apparently the indicating stuff is carcinogenic. The silica gel they use now is pink when fresh

We used a moisture trap called Hippo when we couldn't get our clothes dryer hose to reach the window, it sucks up the moisture just great and it's easy to see the level rising on the side. Dunno how similar this is to a Camel though!

I'd looked at the outdoor Carcoon as an option for keeping my mini undercover. I'll be interested to hear how it goes for you Hanra.

When I worked in an Instrument shop (not that long ago) we just used to stick it in the microwave in the smoko room. Did a real good job of drying it.
