So i took photers. dunno if anyone can analyse them and make anything of them.
But i meaured the circumference of the other brake shows around and area, ( on the other wheel ), and it was 21.5 inches. On this one, the one that wont go on, the same area is 22 inches, so something has happened?

Hmmm, the shoes look to be off-centre in the first pic. This will certainly make it hard to slide the drum over them whilst lining up the wheel studs. The shoes look like they have plenty of material left on them ...one little low spot there but thats nuffin to worry about.
Wheel cylinders don't look like they are weeping fluid (that I can see!)
You need to gently push up each shoe so that they make a perfect circle within the other "circles" on the brake backing (looking at your pictures, if you took the shoes away you would still see two metal "circles" around the outside.
You haven't really said whether adjusting the square bolt behind the brakes made the shoes go in or out?
BTW get a wire brush on those wheel studs and clean up the threads then the tiniest smear of axle/chassis grease will ensure smooth nuts on/nut off (Grasshopper!!). Do not put any on the taper of the nut.
Once you get the Drum back on, and the two little countersunk screws that hold it on....go and pump the brakes firmly a couple of times...this helps "centre the shoes" and tells you how good your adjustment is ...you should be able to turn the wheel easily but hear a slight "scraping" noise (the shoe dragging on the drum).
Once thats done...carefully drive it to a brake place and get em to check it over!!
