Hey team I was wondering if a cooper s mk2 would fit in a box trailer I have? I realise that the answer will vary depending on the set up of wheel type and tyre width. Trailer has internal diamensions of 3000mm x 1500mm with suitable load carrying capacity to cope. My real concern is the width as i know it will be close. the lenght isnt as critical as the rear tailgate is removeable.
So all you cooper guys if you have a tape measure and 2 straight lengths of timber it would be great to get your results.

Thanks heaps
Brian

I use a 10 ft x 5ft Box trailer to carry the Race Mini around.....

Can just close both (front and back) tail gates with 3 mm to spare each end.....

so can "rub" if moves about a bit.....

Depend how accurate your trailer is.... mine is actually slightly longer than 10ft.

Note - you can't open the doors.... I winch it on / off...

<EDIT> Have also carried the clubman with wheel arches - OK as they are higher than the side of the trailer where it counts....
The fun began when the hydro line burst ... spraying Issy piss everywhere....
Wonder what the cars following thought was happening !

Width wise a few inches each side - I usually put a couple of bits of 2x4 beside the wheels to ensure can't slide sideways.... <EDIT>

Mini being Imperial measure not sure if would be compatible with a 3000 x 1500

I have also carried the Elf - but without tail gate in place....

Yippee, Well from the info above it looks as though it will just sneek in with about 45mm to spare each side thank you all. MINImal effort. Thanks for the images and the tip on the chock blocks each side as that is great thinking. I figured that i would have trouble opening the doors might have to think about a winch as well. I shall now get on with the task of making the ramps.
I really am blown away by this forum everyone is so helpful.
Thanks gang.

I think his Lotus did that by itself :D
... I'm definitely at the "budget" end of racing... 8)

I got the Outback as good compromise of a road car vs 4wd. (and had an Imprezza before this)
I have the 2.5 manual with "low" range and auto levelling rear suspension...

Goes great up and down the Hume from Canberra to Sydney - doesn't struggle anywhere.

Is happy cruising along at the speed limit. (and will pull well up hill - passed a few people who give you a second look being overtaken uphill towing the mini.)

That said I'm probably getting close to the specified limits of what's possible when I'm loaded up with all the tools and spares etc. but has been OK. Possibly sitting a little low in the rear.

There is a steepish hill in Paramatta with traffic lights at the top.... getting stuck here in peak hour traffic is the only time it's complained ... clutch didn't like the stop start uphill with the trailer.....( I think took 3 changes to get through the lights )

Haven't tried to negotiate any other roads with the Mini on the back .... but did do a trip to the Gong to pick up my work ramps (ex wheel aligner) - heavy but not as much as the mini... and no probs with Macquarie Pass. (admittedly light going down)

Cool thanks, i think that's the other problem, the suspension in the rear of the liberty is very soft and i think it would drop to the floor.

The forester looks good with it's auto leveling suspension as well..but the interior is not that nice.

I think i might borrow a tow car for the odd time i need it. :)
