Hey guys,

Lately my car as ive been turning right any faster than about 15Km/h I get a loud clunking noise from the right side of the car but only when accelerating or braking. I have had a look and a little play and the only thing i can see that maybe is courseing this is the driveshaft has a little bit of play in and out. It moves about 10mm if that.
Does this mean i need to get my CV joints replacement and if so what kinda price would i be looking at?

certanly sounds like your cv is stuffed.
Price depends if you have disk or drums. Outer cv kit will range from $70 - $90 depending on if you require a drum or disk outter cv.
Whilst ur at it, check over your wheel bearings and inner cv's as well, weather thta be pot joints, uni joints,

It may just be that the CV joint is drying out and needs new grease.
My CVs have done over 130,000 miles now, I greased them at the 75,000 mark. Still no noises or clunks, even though they do have a little slack in them.

Oh ok. How do you grease them while the boots still on there? Im guessing youd have to take the boot off wouldnt you?

You have to take them out, and remove the driveshafts. Which you will need to do even if you fit new ones.
Then either take them apart to clean, or wash them out good with degreaser and a brush, ensuring no bristles dried grease or dirt are left in there.
Dry them off with air blast.
Then repack with CV grease and fit a new boot.

It clunks once and it seems it only does it when i turn and accelerate or brake and thats the only time it does it. I pulled the wheels off today and had abit of a look and blew some dust and crap out and it hasnt done it yet. But yeh i dunno i'll get it checked out

I am not sure what model Mini you have , However sometimes it can be your drive shaft (axel ) where it fits into your uni joint or inboard CV (Pot joint) the splines should be greased, to allow movement of the drive shaft, This I find can cause a clunk when you accelerate or brake because the shaft binds up then lets go with a clunk, I find that CV Joints will usually have a continuous clunking sound
