Hi,
So basically if you don't know the full history of the Cooper S, it is hard to tell if it was a police vehicle.
thanks

Nope....if you know the state where the Cooper was used you can get hold of pictures and talk to people who know where they mounted things.

NSW were fond of using Chronometric Speedos (mechanical, bowden cable driven) and these were (I think) mounted above the existing speedo off a bracket on the dash. So those sort of mounting holes can be an ex-Police give-away. Siren mounting points, pistol grip spotlights, larger alternators etc etc

Police historical units could also be of help as would a previous rego check (maybe) etc etc

same kinda question.....

They were unmarked and in a variety of colours. For a long while most people would hit the brakes at the first sign of a Cooper S!

Ain't that the truth.

If'n you use the handbrake, the stop lights don't work so no need for switch. Amazing how well a Mini slows down with a good handbrake, as long as you don't lock 'em up...

Go back up this thread and you will see that there are visible clues (holes drilled!!) and authorities to check for ex-Police service
(why you no risten Grasshopper!!)

Interestingly, last night I was shown a NSW Police build sheet for a Clubman GT police special....velly inner-mah-resting....will try and get Rob to post it on Ausmini! :D
