Got onto Lumley, spoke with a dude there called Charlie? He is helping his mate do a Vtec conversion on a Mini?? He was keen to talk Mini's!!!

I was surprised that they wanted to see my current policy so that could ensure they matched the price. Id rather them beat the price rather then match it, otherwise its not worth hassle of swapping.

Ive sent them pics so ill wait and see what they come up with

Yeah Charlie's the guy i spoke to, he was keen as mustard to talk mini's with me too.

I'm around the $200 with GIO on vintage with full salavage covered to 15k. Shannons won't insure under 21 i dont think, and just car wont insure a 66 as its to old a car.

Well Lumley has come in $75 per year less then Shannons with all vehicles insured for the exact same amount. Seems like a no brainer to change over to them I spose!!!

It is a real shame that it basically comes down to who you talk to at the companies, just recently sold our clubman sports car and I rang shannons to get them to remove the car from our policy, while i was talking to them I asked how much to insure the Midas with them, the value I asked for was $5k less than the clubbie but with the same conditions, the guy quoted me $120 more to insure the Midas than it had cost to insure the clubman sports car and when I queried him on the price asking why it cost more to insure the Midas than the Clubbie (both being kit type cars) he was not interested evn in trying to match the prices from others so I just cancelled the Clubbie and left it

Couple of weeks later I get a call from a Damian from Shannons wanting to know why i had not insured the car with them, I told him the story about the guy and he was very helpfull, droped the price on the Midas to $212 a year and gave me a price on our daily driver that was $250 less a year than CGU who we had been insured with for the last 10 years and gave us a much better deal on our houshold insurance as well

We now have 5 cars and the house insured with them but only because the second guy damian was prepared to treat us as a valued customer not like the first turkey

I plan on asking Shannons to match this price from Lumley otherwise Ill take the 3 vehicles and head over to them. For the sake of $75, you would think they would try and match it ay? We will see....

ive been with shannons since i was 18 i had no problem insuring my mini with them for agreed value of $6000 and the price has dropped slightly every year now I am 20.

I couldnt find any fault with them at all, like when my car was stolen I think I got more than $6000 of things covered in the end, after the repairs and replacements and they paid for two tows over quite long distances and also a hire car for two weeks.

For about $800 a year as my daily driver, I am VERY happy with them :D

Well Im quite suprised with this outcome!! I got my quote from LSV which was $73 cheaper then Shannons offering all the same features and benefits. I passed this quote onto Shannons and advised them that I am considering taking my 3 vehicles over to LSV purely based on there cheaper price. I enquired to see if Shannons would match the price.

Here is there answer:

Quote:
Hi Brad,

Shannons doesn’t make a habit of trying to beat our competitors prices.

If you are happy with the cover they are offering and the price you have been offered then do what you need to do just let us know prior to renewal so we can stop taking any instalments and close the policy.

Regards

Obviously things there have changed since yesteryear.
My spies tell me that in NSW, GIO has the sharpest pencil at the moment.
