I was told only 6 black mk1 997 coopers were made in oz, I suspect there were more.

Black would have been a rare colour for any BMC car. I don't know the Dulux number but I found the touch-up paint in the BMC Accessories book. Berger number 5131 used from 50 to 68.

I have no idea how many black cars were made but it would not have been a lot.

Yes, my Mk 1 S is a factory Black car. Thanks for putting the pic up Brad, not seen that one before. From one of our runs.

I don't know how many Black minis there were either, I understand there were more Black Cooper's than Cooper S's, with only a hand full of Cooper S's, five or six. That's what the second owner of the car told me anyway.

I think this was on the way home from Port, around Trinity Beach.

Perhaps one day we will get to go on another cruise..... When this rain pisses off and the council fill all the pot holes left behind..

Yeah, I figured Trinty Beach too. Have had quite enough of this rain, have to start taking vitamin D soon as haven't seen the sun for over a month :D not counting the withdrawals with no mini driving

Was hoping the new shed would be half up by now, haven't even started on the slab yet  , ground is too wet for the Redimix truck

Im having withdrawal symptoms from not driving the ute!!! My bubble is doing a good job though, no signs of moisture inside.

Shame about the shed. Might take a bit for the ground to dry up even when the skies clear, going to be water logged...

It's a pretty average job on the stamping. Do all the early cars look like this?

A member of Hotbricks has a factory black Cooper S. I think there might an article on it in one of TME magazines.

I must say that there is something undeniably sexy about an original black Mini, or any BMC vehincle for that matter.

I remember I looked ay an MGB project a few years back. It was a MK1 and was originally black, but regardless of what the plate said the owner had painted most of it sherwood green. Sure it looked nie in the green but why not the black? My dad and I made a decent offer on the car but was refused. Not sure what happened to it after that.
