I am about to start to rebuild my 1100s block.

I am looking for a lartge journal 1100s crank for stroking

I am going to run +110 pistons, large lift/duration cam, liaght flywheel/backing ring, large port/valve head, brownrigg pipes + 45 / 48 webber, roller tip rockers 1.7:1 and a set of roller followers that have been made for me.

The question is is this too much for a daily driver that does 16kn twice a day and track abuse about 4 times a year or should I build something a little bit more on the tame side ?

I would have thought that a long-duration cam with those rockers would be a bit extreme for the street..

Traffic or highway driving?

If traffic, you're better off with a slightly milder setup as you will have no guts under 3000rpm. Large bore pipes will be very loud so sitting in traffic witha lumpy cam that cannot idle under 1500rpm with 90 decibel pipes can be abit much 48 weeks of the year... (trust me, first hand experience)

I had to shut her up abit with a twin box exhaust and even considered going to a big single SU to quieten her up abit. You can build something that is quick and tame... (relatively tame anyway)

any sugestions

the unit i have came out of one of our race cars and I was going to changhe the head and lower the comp

And by the way I work in an engine reco shop in Dandenog so this engine rebuild will only cost me time and parts and the engine guru at work mainly does strocker v8's and has a small block in his capri that has about 3000hp so I think that we could get about 110hp out of the A seris with out much truble

Roller rockers and roller lifters are just more bits of metal to fall into the gearbox.

Whats the cam specs your thinking of or have available to use?
Roller rockers .....not really worth the trouble especially for a street engine (IMHO).

take the cam to a place that specialises in cam regrinds and get them to do a printout of the specs for you it may cost you a nominal fee or they might do it for free. :D

And can I have a dyno print out of the 3000 HP capri - now there's a daily driver!

No need to go more than 1.5 rockers for a road car. I had Brownriggs, 45 Weber and 648 full race cam in my Cooper S which I drovce daily in Melbourne traffic for a couple of years. Sounded sensational and went like stink but after the novelty wears off and the glum reality of traffic snarls and stop-start driving cuts in, it can become a bit of a handful.

I know plenty of racers who use 1.3:1 rockers. I've got 1.5:1 in my racer and they slide back the torque range at least 700 rpm. What cam are you running and what torque range are you after? I wouldn't suggest any more than 2000 - 6000 for a daily driver, even if it's a weekend racer.

I don't know anyone in australia running 1.7:1 rocker ratios... anyone?
It's just too extreme unless you're going to rev over 7000+ all the time.
