Reason for asking is that I have some paint here which appears to be branded/manufactured by "2K".. was wondering what it was ;)

dont bother with acrylic, its high maintainence, looks bad after a while and will cost you more to get put on at a panel shop, the reason paint in general cracks in mini seams etc is because the person prepping the car doesnt clear them out properly and the paint doesnt stick.. nothing to do with the paint.. 2k does flex too.. other cars have seams.. not just minis. someone said use 2k primer and acrylic top coat.. dont do that, use the right primer for the right paint or you will loose it after a couple of years. if you want a nice finish that will last for decades use a good quality 2k paint. you will not regret it.

At least 2K primer is waterproof, unlike the 1 pack acrylic stuff.
If you want rust to come through, use acrylic primer...

not so

2pac primer is basically really thin bog. Acrylic paint sticks to bog yes?

Sure, you CAN put acrylic on to 2pack primer if you want to see it bubble and stuff up before it even drys :o Different paints need the to be put on the primer that was designed for them. errrr does that make sense?

Modern cars have plastic bumpers which are painted and do flex quite a lot... You can add an additive to your paint which gives it more "flex". Really you shouldn't be having any flexing at joints anyway as i would think there could either be structual or poor paint adhesion problems

2K is a brand of PPG 2 pack paint
Its the top middle one in the following link:

My 2cents - I'd go 2pak...

does acrylic paint bubble over bog?

the reverse of what you said is true.

I used 2k primer, and acrylic top coat because it was my first attempt at 2k. If I got any runs etc etc in the 2k primer it would be easy to fix and would have an impact on the final coat.

paints still on there :?

im with meeni,

hi fill 2k primer is barely liek bog, its just a thicker compiund paint used to fill minor imperfections that you cant do with bog, things like sandpapper scratches.

2k primer has been designed to be used with 2k top coats, you would be silly to use them otherwise,
alas has acrylic primer been developed and tested to be used with acrylic top coats. sure you can chop and change as stated above but imo i wouldnet waste my time and risk my build.

thats like sticking bigmac sause on hungryjacks burgers, just not right!
