2k stands for 2 part process, ie chemically hardened with a hardener. theres are many reasons for and against each system. if you are going on the cheap and doing it at home, acrylic is more forgiving but wont last long or be as durable. but at the end of the day your bringing it to a shop so go 2k.

and i dont believe in the statement that acrylic primers are made for acrylic paints or whatever. the fact is a 2k primer (hi-fill or epoxy, there just different types that is all) will set much harder and be a more solid base for your paint system than any acrylic primer could ever be. acrylics are constanly releasing solvents upon uv exposure and never quite set even with hardeners. ive done alot of reading and most old school painters 2k prime and acrylic topcoat (thats those that actually still use acrylic - which is very few).
