I am going to be buying a Van. I'm wondering if anyone can give me a list of details I should be looking for - like body numbers to tell me about the car etc. I know nothing about the car and neither does the owner.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cass

What year are you looking at?

If you don't know, the month and year is on the ID plate on the driver's side guard under the bonnet. The Body number is there too which gives you all the other details you need.

Just make sure the body is tip top and complete because everything else is easier/cheaper to fix if you have to. Also later vans rust like a biatch, so look for that.

Is that the sort of info you want?

I am going to buy it reguardless of the condition matt. as long as its not flaking away on me.

thanks 77 clubby- thats the kind of stuff I want.

I've had a bit of a lazy search on ausmini. what I was hoping for (as I dont have any books on this) was maybe a register of what numbers mean what on the body, so when I'm there I can know what I'm looking at. and maybe what kinds of roundnose vans there are out there. As I have no idea.

I know when I get it and bring it home I'll be posting everything about it with pics and what not and I'll get to know more then. But in the mean time I'd like to dream about the possibilities.

Basically I know nothing about it except that it has rear windows, it's a roundnose, and it's yellow. neither does the current owner. I've asked him for more details on numbers etc, however I know the guy very well, and he's an extremely busy man. I also know where the mini is kept and how hard it is for him to get these kinds of details for me at the moment.... so yeah. When I go to see/buy the mini - its going to be a case of helping him clean out the warehouse so we can get it out.

check these websites out, it should give you an idea.... just get the numbers off the id plate under the bonnet and go from there... if there is no id plate.... good luck...... lol

Oh I know. I've driven past it twice today. But I don't have $5000. And it's the wrong shape for me :P plus with this van I'll be able to make it how I want it and not undo all the good work you've done on yours.
