Hey Doc

sorry if this has already been asked about how does an Arden compare with an Elder.. (i know westlake is the best but that been discussed already)

Is the following correct
The elder is 8-port
The arden is 7 port

Thanks Brenton

The Elder head is made here and is lots cheaper (and easier to get) than an Arden. Both flow pretty well now as GR developed the port shapes.
I'd ask him which is best.. but for the road I doubt the Arden is worth the extra. Arden needs a special camshaft too, as the lobe layout is different.

Nope, both Elder and Arden heads are alloy 8 port. The only current 7 port is the AKM one (cast iron), now sold by Minisport.

Mini spares remade the Arden heads for a while and we purchased a few, they come with new extractors, a genunine "race" ST cam and 4 new Amel carburettors. Barry used one (modified) on the sports sedan he made (later with 2 Webers) and won a number of races. theres still a few s/h arden heads about, i know of at least 3, As for the Westlake head, i have only seen 2, Simon Young (British sporting cars) has one on his "works" rally mini with lucas mechanical injection. My favourate mini of all time, one of the best replica works minis in the world, he is bringing it to Phillip Island so i can drool over it. There will also be Graham Urchs Genunine Works car there too, the best Genunine restored works car there is.
