Hey guys.

Our club is holding it's annual rally this Saturday. It's called the Narooma Booma, down the south coast in the beautiful little town of Narooma (sort of near Batemans Bay). There will be some awesome action for those that want to watch, and the club is always SCREAMING for people to help out as officials.. You don't need any experience, and it's not hard work at all - and the best part is you're nice and close to the action!

If you've never been to a rally before, come along and find out what it's all about. If you think you can help out in any way, email me and I'll put you in touch with the organisers.

Hope to see some of you motorsport fans there! 8)

i'll be there.

Honestly it is not hard work. We show up at the bowling club (rally HQ) after lunch and sign on as officials. then we meet our guide at the designated meeting point, who then leads a convoy of officials into the deep dark forest. each official is shown their control or road closure point, and left to do their stuff. most new people get a road closure because it is EASY. all that is involved is to wait until the zero car (marked with a "0" ) comes through to close the stage, at which point you park your car across the road that you are closing. if anyone comes down the road and tries to get onto the stage, you politely tell them they have to wait until the road is reopened, or go back the other way. Of course if they choose to wait, they will get the best view of rally action ever. If they question your authority, then you show them the paperwork provided by the club. that is it. the only other thing you do is to sit and eat and drink and read a book until the competitors come through and you get to see all the action up close. then after the last competitor clears the stage, you wait until the stage is reopened by another official car, and make your way back to the bowling club (possibly via another stage).

we really encourage people to come along and help out, as it is a good weekend. Narooma is great for fishing and surfing for the time you are not out in the forest.

This will be the 1st time i've missed Narooma in 14 years, it's a top weekend, i love the roads down there, suits a sideways V* commodore rally car really well, if you go you are gauranteed a top weekend.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

It'll be my first Booma this weekend, and I can't wait. Sounds awesome, only problem is, I know I will catch the bug and funds/time aren't allowing for a rallying program just at the moment :( . I suppose I will be content helping out and being as close to the action as possible until I can join in :!: :!: :!:

Narooma is truely a nice town.
Stayed there for a week and didn't not like one thing of it.
We stayed at the place where opposite it, is foodland (or whatever big supermarket there is there).
Was very nice.

Never been there unfortunately. Hopefully the weather is nice and I'll drag my sorry arse out of bed early enough on Sunday for a trip to the beach before the drive home. 8)
