..no new paint as yet as the funds just arnt there...the engine bay has been done so my goal is to fit the engine and the new loom and to get her running this year...so ive got a lot of time to forfill my goal.

any tips on fiting a new loom ..do they come in to pieces??
anything i should look out for..good bad ....any good places in melbourne vic to get one...

what kinda cost will i be loonking at?

They do come in two pieces, I would fit it as the second job after after fitting the window wiper mechanism. Feed the loom through the firewall first, and then pass the lights/engine wiring through the web near the fuse box.

Rear loom is a little more fiddly as you need to pass it through the front and rear pillars, do the front pillar first working from inside the car with a helper. Use a stiff piece of wire to push down the pillar and pull the loom through. Pass the rear part of the loom down the rear pillar and under the rear window flap catch bracket.

Mine came from Western Australia via Northern Mini Spares, Has everything you need. Getting one locally will at least ensure it will be right for an Australian built car and help the local economy

I'm all for helping the local economy but I had quotes of between 5 and 6 hundred dollars from the two local manufacturers that I contacted. I bought exactly what I needed from Minispares for 98 pounds plus postage. (under $300 all up).

Obviously if you are doing an original restoration job on a Aussie car then it might be best to use to use someone like Vintage wiring.

I spoke to vinwire the other day via email and they are super helpful. they quoted me less than what austin850 has mentioned also.

When I ordered mine the plastic wrap was considerably cheaper than original black cotton with the yellow fleck. I ordered plastic but when it came in it was cotton wrap. I was charged the quoted price - lucky it was written in the order book
