Thanks for the opinions guys,

I will definately keep the badges and all that and I think I like the look of the clubman rally cars so I might keep one of my clubmans as my 'modded' car and set it up rally style.

I am planning to take the deluxe back to bare metal so I might do that and when I am putting it back together decide which car I want to put the 1275 and disk brakes in. I will have to find out if it is a matching number engine as well because if it is it would be good to keep the same engine in there. I didn't think to check when I was looking at it

Does anyone have any pictures of what an original deluxe interior is supposed to look like :?:

Engine number sez it'a a 1098, not original 998 Deluxe.
Check it against the body plate on the firewall- should have one if it's a Deluxe.

I think it had a body plate against the firewall,

It's funny how you know all these things (like matching numbers etc) you are supposed to check but they all just escape you when you are there.

"Cooperizing" it has two main problems:
1. It's a bit "wannabee", like you're trying to be something you're not.
2. Even if you make it clear to the next person you sell it to that it's not genuine, the next owner may not, and that's where rip-offs start.
But just making a hot mini is a fine endeavor which people have been doing since the Mini was first made. Just don't stick Cooper badges on it.

IMHO, of course ;)

pffrt - when did an 850 win the monte 4 years running - LOL we could start a whole new debate like the roundie versus clubbie battle, but over genuine Coopers versus common street trash minis - course I can only say that cos I've got a genuine S (he says with a sneer as he breathes on his finger nails and polishes on his tailored suit)

i'm not comparing my mini to a cooper s.... i'm just saying cooper s spec isn't the ultimate in mini setups...

love the car you're in.... ( :? sounds like a bastardised skin care commercial :))

Our Barney is festooned with S badges etc, but we're thinking of having them surgically removed.
Some common Mini Deluxe ones would go nice... make him another sleeper!
