Na Bob no luck yet, probably will just take it out of the car & put it in the corner of the garage for a rainy day, & ill chuck the discs brakes on the pile with the rest of them.

Geez, no any servo's between Beverly Hills & Mascot that sell Avgas, it would not be the best engine to drive in traffic, but i'd give it a go.

I've got an intermittent squeal/whistle noise which changes pitch with revs. Readusting the fan belt did nothing. Removing the fan belt and running the engine without one(briefly) it stopped completely.

Water pump has 3-5mm of in/out play but spins okay and the alternator does not spin real freely. Neither one squeals or feels rough when spun by hand, so I'm not sure which to replace first.

Murphy's law says it's the water pump, as that's the hardest one to fix! I hate taking the 1100S radiator out - it only JUST fits. :x

I hope so! I'm worried it might be the water pump impellor kissing the water jacket in the block.

Being a K it's got a Lucas 4TR external regulator. So I'm going to have to do some rewiring if I fit a Bosch unit or similar.

The alternator appears to be the original (stamped 9-70), so at maybe 240,000 miles and 34 years old I guess it's allowed to fail.
