I regularly flush my engine every 3000 miles with KMX.

Has anyone every seriously thought that any of this flush stuff actually worked? Get real.
A well maintained motor will only need oil changes for a long and healthy life. It does not need a cup full of a secret additive run it it for 5 minutes to clean out all the nasties. It just needs regular oil changes.

If your motor is old it needs a rebuild, it does not need a can of miracle cure to clean it out. :x

I have seen some good engines destroyed by a sudden change to diesel oils. The detergent oils need to be used from day one otherwise the oil filter will block up with the sudden rush of carbon from the detergent. If you block the filter it will bypass the filter and your good old engine is suddenly running on detergent oil full of carbon.

Morris this is what prompdeed me to ask this question as this is pushed via the majority or service area "local Service Mechanics"
The speal via the Web site and you can trust me by the "Sales Manger" it will help all engines as it cleans out everything and the owner will feel the differnace in responce when they drive out of the work shop. I hate to think they will have to be on a flat bed a month later for a motor rebuild or replace it

I put it right up there with paint protection, extra rustproofing, fabric protection, and all the other stuff dealers sucker you into before delivery.
It's a money spinner...

Some places push engine flush, some places push injector servicing and some places push brake rebuilds*. The one thing in common is taking money from customers for no good reason.

Tipping snake oil into a rocker cover is an easy way to make a buck.

How could you not want your brakes rebuilt? Think of your families safety as your wife takes the kids to school. You need to have you master cylinder seals replaced every 10,000km or your family will die a slow and painfull death and it will all be your fault. Do it now!!!!!

I had a mate that worked at a Honda dealership that used to push full brake rebuilds to people of certain race. Apparently they fell for the spiel easier according to the manager

I've been told that diesel oil in a petrol motor will do the same job due to all the detergents in it , you just have to run it for 1000 k's or so then change oil and filter as the filter will be full of crud . I am not advocating or advising doing this but have been told it does the same as expensive engine oil treatments that claim to do the same thing ...

Many Mini people in USA are now using diesel oils (eg Shell Rotella) because it's getting hard to buy oils that still have zinc phosphate? in. It's been removed from most modern oils for environmental reasons, without it, older engines with flat tappets (eg A series) suffer cam and lifter wear.

Apparently the first lot of diesel oil through an older engine is the one to watch , it loosens everything up and gunks up the filter .
