I am currently going through the process of getting a new loom made.

My mini has been heavily modded and I am really struggling to know what was factory and what is different.

The circled item in the picture below. Was that standard on a 75 clubby and is it called a solenoid? The engine is an aplus so I am guessing not.

It's a solenoid.

Standard throughout the Australian models although the shape of the solenoid was different on the earliest minis. It's a standard mounting point for your year as well, earlier cars had it mounted on a plate on the primary gear housing below where it is now.

Hey Mick,

Thanks for your help again. You seem to answer all my questions.
I actually posted it up and have been doing some research since then and found the answer. Maybe next time I should be a bit better at researching before posting dumb questions :) I am a bit overwhelmed by electricals and trying to list all the mods that have been done on my car by the previous owner is my idea of a nightmare.
Thanks again.
D

Everyone seems to have some part of car maintenance that scares the beejesus out of them so much that they never quite get a handle on how its works. Electrickery can be one of those topics.

Paint and surface prep is mine, I just can't stand it...

The picture is a little small to read the writing...I'll see if I can enlargen it a little.

not "science makes me horny" girl (I have good eyesight). In the video there is a lady in the front right with no arms.

Ahh yeah, I liked the gif, but have no idea where the original vid footage came from. I wouldn't mind finding out.

I don't know man. She looks like they are tucked in. It looks like jack black could be the dancer.

You might be right, all in all very strange behavior all round I'd say.
