Ok so I jumped on the Ausmini forum this morning and posted up a help question asking if someone on the north side of Brisbane would be able to come and help get the girl going again!

Well I think I underestimated the power of this site…..

Dave (sitnlo62) came to the rescue and freely gave up his time! What a freakin LEGEND! He rocks up has a look at her, and diligently tweaks and turns after a few minuets I jump in and first go! KAPOW! She is singing!!!!! THANKS SOOO MUCH DAVE!!!

Now what was the problem?

- The valves were riding and I hadn’t adjusted them after I replaced the head gasket because it was a different size. I’m a dead set IDOIT!
- Dave also tuned my carburettor and gave me some tips

I now have 100% faith in the quality of great Aussie mini owners, once again thanks so much for your time Dave what a excellent job I was absolutely gobsmacked at the speed and the vast knowledge of this man or should I say LEGEND!

THANKS AUSMINIers and DAVE sitnlo62!!!!!!!

I love hearing stories like this.
This site has helped me out with lots of mini related problems also.
I havent had to ask for help as yet getting my car running but im sure when the call is made ill be happy with the result.

This reminds me of a story with my sisters morris minor..
we had a great guy who as far as I know is still in the morris minor club..his name is percey something...
he would drive all the way to our house....fix the problem and take no money and leave happy as he has kept another minor on the road...he even took parts of his own car to get my sissters car going at one stage..

This would have to be one of the best car sites i have ever been involved with
I allways get mature responses and the mini related infomation given allways helpfull.
I guse wer are all here for the same purpose??
to help each other out if we can and in doing so enableling us to all keep our mini pride and joys on the road.

Way to go Dave!!! Someone buy that man a beer! It has to be 5 o'clock somewhere.
I also like to hearing these stories of people going out of their way to help others. And as most of us have had problems in the past for many things and we are able to share that knowlegde to help more mini's alive on todays roads. why because we all get a thrill when we see mini's on the road.

Oh and you don't always get mature answers but if you add your own bs filter you can get some really great tips and advice from this site.

Happy to help Marshall,
You had done a really good job replacing the head gasket and the radiator so your certainly not an Idiot you just had a bit of a hicup at the end. Now you know where you went wrong it will be a breaze next time.
I would have loved to have seen the look on you Dads face when he got home last night and you told him it was running!
By the way, I think I may have left my good going out thongs at your place
Any sign of them?

Dave
