makes it really really easy to hang the exhaust as well - you just pop it on, line up the extractors at the front and then do the cotton reel at the back - no shoving backwards and forwards, because it's nice and rubbery

bit more detail on this - since the metal for the original rubber is quite thin and will bend easily, I actually welded a ~3mm plate to the back (between the 'ears') and drilled through it, the rod goes through the hole and is welded from the back
the local exhaust wholesaler had a pallet load of those rubbers that they'd bought in for a customer, but had been stiffed and left with. I bought a box of 6 of them for $5, most suitable rubber I could find, and he wouldn't let me have just 1!
