Dave,
Whats that between the body and plastic flare. Is there some form of rubber gasket or just the light??

Craig,
Mini King over here has the proper factory clips that hold the chrome strip and flares on. If done right, no pop rivets are needed.

The clips are available also via ebay from John:

Hi Sports. The last set NOS in USA went for around USD400 from memory (about 6 months ago). I have seen the individual bits go for around GBP60. Hard to find a full set but with patience you could put together a set over time.

Hi Isleblue. The trim comes in 3 pieces per side, so shipping isn't a huge problem. Uk Mk1Coopers (997 and 998), Riley Elfs and Wolseley Hornets all had this trim. The Australian Coopers were CKD kits and used this trim ex UK. The very early Coopers front wheel arch trim is a bit longer and rolls around and under the front a bit further (worth remembering if you're trying to put a set together). The profile is the same as the plastic trim used on Cooper S's. I'll PM you if I see any pop up on Ebay. I have one spare NS front trim available if that helps with starting the collection.

   I knew they were getting up there in value but didn't know that high .... Will have to check how many bits I've got now .

Hi

Not all Australian Coopers had this 3 piece stainless trim. The later 998's had the normal plastic trim, although it is not known exactly when/where the change occurred.

Cheers
Steve

I think what you can see is just a pencil line where I scribed the shape of the flare so to get the position right.

Thanks Dave, thought there was nothing between body and plastic flare.
So you managed to get your chrome strip on OK. Any other tips or tricks?
Under someones suggestion I have mine taped to some straight copper pipe for a while to straighten and get the coil effect out before I give it a go on the car.

Steve
