u supercharge and turbo charge? that sounds very scarey kinda like cooking with a 1950's high heat pressure cooker(stay away This relic could blow at any moment)

no, you use a shaft to drive the turbo instead of the exhaust gases. theres a few setups like it and me and my bro are gonna give it a go and see what happens.

Oh and doc i ahve checked out the work you did on that manifold before, very slick job, i may end up doing that just to smooth out where the gas flow has eaten away at the joins of the manifold more than in other parts.

oh and i think "Stay away! This relic could blow at any moment!" would make a great bumper sticker :P

EAB,,, they generally use the sharft drive to the "gear" drive mech ,,, "overdriving" the turbo to get the desired force.

really want to know what kind of effects having the intake facing forward will have?

The first thing you will find is the bonnet will not shut.

Then you may find that it will run crap as the fuel will separate from the air as it tries to take the hairpin bend and the fuel will run down the back wall of the manifold. :?

I saw a picture of one where they'd machined teeth onto the flywheel and ran a belt to a little gear on the turbo - nicely overdriven!

what's the shaft RPM requirement for an average turbo making average boost?

That flywheel driven one was in Miniworld a few years back.

'Twas an awesome machine.

depending on the wheel and compressor size u use. Most turbos will spin 100,000rpm + on boost , if u used a much bigger front housing u could spin it a lot less to reach the desired boost .

Ever thought of putting a DGAV 32 36 on it and make your own manifold that what I did worked great no mods to do.

i just had a thought which i havent thought out at all BUT

what if the exhaust hases at higher speed put out enough force to spin up the turbo faster then the belt drive u are using? could u make a belt drive that allows u to spin up the turbo initially but dissengages as the turbo spins faster then the belt can turn is? a little like a boat winch on a trailer spins? would be a tuning nightmare but just a thought to be falsified and analysised by those with more then my back yard bobs approach to mechanics
