A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to pick up a Hornet and Elf workshop manual off of MattE for a great price (thanks Matt). I thought it would look pretty good in the collection, whic includes a gregorys, the red home workshop manual and the blue workshop manual (with australian addendums). The manual is in perfect condition with no thumbprints, dog ears and other damage. It's a great little book.

I expected it would be the same old manual with the same old tired pictures you get used to when you surf through the standard mini publications. But I was surprised to see that the majority of the pictures within the manual are new, and the descriptions more relevant i nthat they focus on the short period the cars were available in, and not try to focus over the entire mini lifespan. It looks like Riley and Wolsely produced their own manual instead of simply using a modified standard reference.

For instance htere are only 3 wiring diagrams to get confused over, there is a more detailed panel beating section, a really good section on the gearbox and no red herrings like the famous brake intensifier. It even has a complete diagram of the Alternator charging system with an internal parts breakdown and circuit diagram of the 4TR regulator so you can repair it..

I'm going to flash up the new printer, and see how the auto document scanner deals with a few chapters of thsi manual. if it works I'll scan the whole lot in.

For early to late roundy owners it makes for a much better manual imho...
