Like all the others have said willy just go over the car with a fine tooth comb. NAV made it from Canberra to Brisbane with no dramas i just made sure the engine was tuned and i had spare just about everything that could go wrong.

Adelaide to Melbourne is easy.

Personally i would take a right at warnambool and meet up with the great ocean road. That would be an awesome piece of blacktop in a mini.

sitting on 100kmh it would take you about 6 hours but if you have to slow down for towns and stuff plus some stops it takes you roughly 8 hours, the mini wont brake down once you pass the sa vic border as thats about where the desert ends! in melbourne remember to buy yourself a melways, its the street directory and its the size of a phone book!!! also bring lots of patience and skill in manouvering through the city as it is usually packed, thats wat the minis for though! and come to sunbury, i think it is the most mini populated town in australia, u just keep seeing new ones! alot of the mini clubbers live there including me and jan small!

cheers

sean

two things to remember...

1st... you need to have somewhere to go... ("ok we're in melbourne, what now?")

2nd.... don't forget that you have to drive it back.. ;) it shouldbe an acheivement to land in the centre of melbourne on two wheels....and one gear... but not on the return...

I vote that when you all get to Melbourne. keep driving to Tassie, and come to visit me. It isnt much further.
And that will be exciting.

My BOSS, manager/founder of the business  ahhh
and his wife just got back from the mainland, ( gone to a bull sale in SA ) and he said driving in Melbourne was the worst, hardest, annoying, whatever, thing to do. It was almost impossible to navigate around at all. And yeah he's been around for a while so he would know.

So that might not be fun
 :?:

mate im 14 and i can get around melbourne, all you need to know is: melbourne is in the shape of a grid, and get a melways and youll be fine, i think whoever said that melbourne was hard to get around was from a tiny city like adelaide! i have been there twice and know how to get everywhere, not by street name so dont quiz me! come on down, youll be suprised how big and established it is compared to adelaide! maybe tell the vmci when you are coming and well do you a little tour day, make your trip a little later in the year then coz i wanna come to! but the only thing to watch out for is the other drivers, its not as laid back as adelaide in peak hour so you have to have your wits about you, believe me if your doing 110 then there will always be someone coming up 20 k's faster!!! its the melbourne way???
