Since building my clubby and getting it on the road a couple of weeks ago i didnt really bother to finely set up all the hi-los because it looked ok and sat flat.

It had a slight left pulling issue on heavy braking so i did all the usual checks and adjustments it improved slightly but still pulled. Also the handbrake felt weird - cable and hydraulic.

So yesterday i brought it in the workshop on nice flat concrete and let the rear tyres down to 5 psi each. Straight away i noticed the right rear tyre compressed a lot more than the left, and on the front the guard to wheel centre height was 12mm higher on left. I set the front heights to match, then did the rears which had 10mm difference - right was higher. So the left front and right rear had been carrying more weight.

Pumped up the back tyres and went for a drive. Now the steering feels much better, the whole car feels more stable and the handbrake is more predictable.

15 minutes well spent.
Will no doubt make the Dunlops last longer.

letting down the tyres to the same pressure - excellent way to do the corner weights!

Corner weights .. absolutely vital, not just on a race car.
Hilos are all well and good, but can very much screw with a cars geometry if not set up properly from the start, as Tombo has found out!

Imagine if your 4 wheels were on scales, with a mini the front is heavier.
What you want is for the front corner weights to match eachother, and the rear weights to match.

Otherwise to an extent it will be like a 4 legged chair with 1 longer leg.

As i dont have 4 scales up to the job i figured making the rear tyres easy to squash would allow the front to sit how it wants so ill i had to do was level it, the see the tyre compression to setup the back, bingo
